Coursework

The curriculum offers students a broad-based knowledge of the visual arts from a global perspective while learning historical, cultural, and theoretical approaches to works of art. At the intermediate level, majors take specialized courses focusing on a historical period, geographical region, or conceptual theme that allow for in-depth study of a topic.

Although most courses taken at other colleges and universities may be accepted for full credit, only a limited number will be counted toward the major. Student must take at least two-thirds of the credits constituting the major at Grand Valley State University, and a maximum of nine designated legal specialty credits can be earned through transfer. In addition, at least nine credits of legal specialty courses must be taken through synchronous instruction.

All Master of Education (M.Ed.) programs require a minimum of 33 semester hours. To receive the M.Ed degree in educational leadership with an emphasis in special education administration, students must complete the College of Education and Community Innovation foundations requirements plus special education emphasis requirements for a minimum of 45 credit hours.
