Coursework

Coursework for foundational ASL introduces learners to beginning sign vocabulary and grammar, nonverbal grammatical elements, fingerspelling, and immersion into the world of ASL.

The digital badge is comprised of two (three credit) courses, a total of six credits:

  • ASL 201  American Sign Language 1
  • ASL 202  American Sign Language 2

Classes meet downtown on the GVSU Health Campus.

Through rigorous coursework, collaborative projects, and hands-on experiences, students cultivate a deep understanding of the issues and emerge as professional and visionary leaders ready to inspire change and foster innovation. The following courses will be used toward completion of the combined degree:

  • PNH 520 (required) as an additional elective
  • PNH 612 for PNH 376
  • PNH 614 for PNH 420
  • PNH 620, 630, 660, 641, or 668 for an undergraduate elective

The program requires completion of 84 credit hours. The degree requirements are designed to offer a comprehensive and rigorous program of study, encouraging the synthesis of information across didactic coursework and clinical experience. A final 12-month internship is required. As students progress through the program, they will transition from

  • primarily didactic to primarily clinical coursework;
  • in-house learning laboratory to full-time external clinical experience;
  • limited variety to greater variety of disordered patients; and
  • focus on developing skills specific to treating hearing and balance disorders to preparing for independent practice.

There is no research requirement to this program.

  • MGT 268 - Business Processes and Management Information Systems
  • MGT 351 - Enterprise Information Systems
  • BUS 410 - SAP TS410 Preparation

Students will learn the flow of business processes by observing and predicting the impact of various business transactions, analyze the inter-connectedness of different functional areas in organizations, execute key business processes in an ERP system, evaluate the impact of business process step in an ERP system on company operations, configure master data in an ERP system, and trouble shoot business process execution errors.
