Election Stress Art Night

Monday, November 4, 2024
5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.
Allendale Campus
Alumni, Community, Faculty, Staff, Students

The 2024 presidential election has been a significant source of stress for many, a trend that has worsened over time. In 2016, 52% of the U.S. population reported feeling stressed due to the election, and by 2020, this number had risen to 68%. Finding ways to cope with this stress is crucial to maintaining your ability to handle daily tasks. A random political event or a challenging conversation can easily derail your day. One highly recommended way to manage stress is through artistic expression.

At this event, you'll have the opportunity to explore multiple modes of artistic expression to channel your internal frustrations, perspectives, and hopes related to the election. You can try painting, collage, bracelet-making, sculpture, button-making, zine-making, pottery painting, coloring, and contribute to a collective canvas at the back of the room. All supplies will be provided. This is not a space for political debate; if you feel the need to express your views on the election, do so through your art.

There will be free pizza and drinks provided.

This event is hosted in partnership with the Student Senate, GV Votes, Office of Multicultural Affairs, Center for Women & Gender Equity, Art Gallery, Library, and the Center for Civil Discourse.
