In this workshop designed for GVSU faculty members, we will: 1) examine a sample accommodation memo, 2) learn how to provide the accommodations listed without compromising course integrity, and 3) better understand your rights as a professor, and your legal obligations under the Americans with Disabilities Act.
We'll discuss...
- what information is included on accommodation memos
- what information is excluded
- The process DSR uses to approve accommodations
- Resources available to faculty when providing accommodations
- A sample accommodation memo that includes
- Periodic Absences
- Public Speaking Alternative
- Classroom recordings (aka Note taking technology)
- Frequent Breaks
- Service Animal
- Refrain from calling on student
A Question & Answer session will follow the planned discussion.
