More than 200 interns from area companies competed in the third
annual West Michigan Intern Olympics June 17 at Earl Brewer Memorial
Park in Byron Center.
Ryan Flaherty, a Grand Valley chemistry major, competed on the
team for Amway. Olympic activities included a tug-of-war, hula hoop
contest and other games, but Flaherty said that networking was the
most important activity.
During his summer internship, Flaherty is working for Amway’s
Quality Assurance sector; one of his projects is to consolidate
methods used to analyze materials.
Along with Amway, other companies represented by interns
included Gordon Food Service, Meijer, Perrigo, Spectrum Health,
Steelcase and Wolverine World Wide.
