Scholars present research during showcase

Thirty-six students had a captive audience August 6 when they
explained how they spent their summer vacation.
McNair Scholars and Student Summer Scholars gave oral and poster
presentations during the annual showcase, sponsored by the Office of
Undergraduate Research and Scholarship and held in the Kirkhof Center.
Gayle R. Davis, provost and vice president for Academic and
Student Affairs, told the audience that the student researchers were
in the first stages of careers filled with inquiry and professional
scholarship. “This is the beginning of greatness for these students
today,” Davis said.
The students represented diverse disciplines ranging from music
to chemistry to political science. Each student worked with a faculty
mentor throughout the summer.
