Irwin to compete for Team USA in Sweden

Shelley Irwin, host and producer for WGVU, will compete with other athletes from Team USA at the Triathlon World Championships in Sweden.
The International Triathlon Union Long Distance event will be in Motala, Sweden, on June 27.
Irwin and others from Team USA qualified for the world championships by placing in the top 20 in their age group in the 2014 Grand Rapids Triathlon.
A long distance triathlon has participants swimming 2.48 miles, biking 74.5 miles and running 18.6 miles.
Irwin trained by herself with a program from Priority Health and Athletic Mentors. Her first triathlon was in 2011.
"Initially, I was the swimmer doing the back stroke and the cyclist with the purple road bike," Irwin said.
