Will Power Shakespeare Camp registration now open

Registration is now open for Grand Valley State University’s fourth
annual Will Power summer education program for children.
These Grand Valley Shakespeare Festival day camps focus on
developing creativity and expanding campers’ imaginations through the
process of drama. Using the works of Shakespeare, campers will learn
about theater concepts and storytelling through activities such as
theater games, stage combat, and improvisation centered on the Bard’s plays.
Session 1: July 13-17
Buckingham Group (entering grades
1-3), 9 a.m.-noon
Westminster Group (entering grades 4-6), 1-4 p.m.
Session 2: July 20-24
Buckingham Group (entering grades
1-3), 9 a.m.-noon
Westminster Group (entering grades 4-6), 1-4 p.m.
“Without the pressure of a presentation or production, every
camper gets a chance to build a character, create lines and have fun,”
said Karen Libman, camp organizer and Grand Valley Shakespeare
Festival director of community engagement. “Campers learn theater
vocabulary, explore elements of storytelling, and expand their imaginations.”
Teachers from Pigeon Creek Shakespeare Company, assisted by
Grand Valley theater students, will provide instruction and
encouragement. All sessions will be held at the Performing Arts Center
on Grand Valley’s Allendale Campus.
Registration fees are $110 per camper; $95 second child
discount; $200 two-week discount. Price includes class fees and
materials. Scholarship opportunities are also available.
