Grand Valley participates in tree-planting initiative

The initiative included a social media campaign, #GreenUpGR, in which
President Haas participated.
Grand Valley is supporting an initiative to increase the number of
trees in the City of Grand Rapids.
Grand Rapids Mayor Rosalynn Bliss' Greening Initiative aims to
have a tree canopy of 40 percent; the current canopy cover is 34.6 percent.
A kick-off to the initiative took place on the Pew Grand Rapids
Campus October 28, where Bliss, students, staff members and community
members gathered to plant trees near and on the grounds of the DeVos
Center. There are currently about 400 trees on the Grand Rapids campus.
Additional tree planting events will take place in Grand Rapids
in November.
