More than 2,300 people turned the ballpark Laker blue by attending the sold-out GVSU Night at Comerica Park event July 26 in Detroit.

President Thomas J. Haas threw the first pitch to kick off the evening game against the Kansas City Royals.

The Tigers organization donated $5 from each ticket purchased to the Grand Valley Scholarship Fund, a general fund dedicated to supporting students through scholarships; a total of $11,225 was donated.

The event, organized by Alumni Relations, was a special opportunity for Grand Valley students, faculty and staff members, alumni, friends and family to join as a community and celebrate the university at a Tigers game.

The Royals won, 16-2.
