Virus Action Team update: Efforts by campus community keeping COVID numbers low

The GVSU Data Dashboard shows the relatively low number of COVID-19 cases. This is directly related to efforts by the campus community to practice safety protocols.
Here are a few timely reminders to keep in mind for the days and weeks ahead:
Indoor Gatherings
The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) continues to urge families to avoid indoor gatherings or to pick a single other household to interact with regularly.
- MDHHS details on avoiding and/or limit indoor gatherings.
- Residential students should continue to follow safety protocols established by Housing and Residence Life.
- Families are encouraged to stay home as much as possible to maintain momentum and to protect loved ones.
Personal Travel Guidance
To protect the health of the GVSU community, employees and students are encouraged to refrain from personal travel due to the risk for COVID-19 transmission. Prior to making travel arrangements, employees and students should consider the COVID-19 risk level at their destination.
- For domestic travel, the COVID Risk Level map from Harvard Global Health Institute provides risk level by county and state. Higher risk areas are reflected on the map by orange and red colors. Some states may have testing or quarantine requirements.
- For international travel, individuals are encouraged to consult the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) travel recommendations by country.
