Although my lessons had nothing to do with what I was learning at GVSU, my study abroad experience was deeply impactful and I'd highly recommend it. I saw incredible things, learned about the world around me, and felt like I had a chance to come out of my shell. Even moments of awkwardness or struggle helped me explore and learn about who I am when separated from everything I'm familiar with. Prior to arriving at the airport, the only person I knew who was going was my professor, who had been the one to suggest the program to me. Since then, my professor has been a huge source of support in my academic endeavors and has opened several opportunities to me. Study abroad will open the world to you.

Jessica studied at Japan Center for Michigan Universities in Hikone, Japan doing their Criminal Justice programming. Her major was Secondary Education and History, Minor: Political Science.
